Relecture

What is document editing and proofreading?

Editing is more technical, whereas proofreading is more like an art form.

Whilst both editing and proofreading are often used interchangeably, there is a difference.

The editing process focuses more on the content of a document. Editors aim to improve the flow and overall quality of the writing, whilst looking out for consistency, accuracy of language and general readability.

Proof-readers, on the other hand, focus on correcting superficial errors in spelling, syntax, grammar and formatting (but obviously go beyond the often relied upon but insufficient spell check feature). They will correct features such as UK English vs US English, sentence structure and terminology.

This service is mainly addressed to the authors of:

  • PhD theses
  • Dissertations
  • Conference papers and presentations
  • Essays
  • Web sites
  • Other professional documents

How do we operate?

We can provide both editing and proofreading in a wide range of languages and subject matter.

Just send us the document you want edited/proofread and we will get back to you with a quote.

As you know translations get old, that’s why sometimes your websites need an editing. Rely on us!

We can edit your work in Microsoft Word using the track changes feature, so that you can see every correction we have done.

This is what we do:

  • Make sure grammar, punctuation and spelling are correct and consistent
  • Avoid repetitions and redundancy
  • Improve sentence, syntax and paragraph structure
  • Adjust the tone and style
  • Work on the layout
